WHITTIER --- Rosalie Avalos totaled a team-high 11 points while Jennyfer Morales had 10 rebounds to lead Rio Hondo College in an 87-45 South Coast Conference North Division loss to No. 3 state-ranked Mt. San Antonio College on Wednesday.
Early on, the Roadrunners held their own against one of the top teams in the state. Rio Hondo trailed 17-12 after one quarter and was down 35-23 at halftime. But the Mounties (21-3, 6-0 SCC) took over in the second half by outscoring the Roadrunners by a 52-22 margin.
Avalos added 5 rebounds and 2 assists while Morales totaled 4 points, 4 assists, and three steals. Jiselle Cabrera contributed 7 points off the bench.
Rio Hondo fell to 10-14 overall and 2-4 in the SCC North Division. The Roadrunners return to action on Friday (Feb. 11) when they travel to Pasadena City College for a 7 p.m. game.
