WHITTIER — Danyal Jenkins hit a solo home run and drove in two runs, but errors proved costly as Rio Hondo College suffered a 13-3 South Coast Conference loss to visiting El Camino College on Saturday at The Jungle.
The Roadrunners committed four errors, allowing five unearned runs that kept El Camino's big innings alive.
Jenkins was Rio Hondo's most productive bat, finishing 2 for 3 with two walks, two runs scored, two RBIs and a stolen base. He scored the Roadrunners' first run in the second on an Andrew Ruvalcaba RBI single, drove in another with a single in the third and added his home run in the eighth. Ruvalcaba finished 2 for 4 with an RBI. Mario Morton went 2 for 4 with a double and scored once.
Rio Hondo collected 10 hits but stranded 11 runners.
El Camino swept the three-game SCC series as Rio Hondo fell to 6-22 overall and 2-10 in conference play. The Warriors took Tuesday's opener 17-6 in Whittier and won 11-0 in Torrance on Thursday.
The Roadrunners will look to snap a seven-game losing streak on Tuesday (Mar. 31) when they open another three-game South Coast Conference series at Cerritos College.
