WHITTIER – The Rio Hondo College men's soccer team closed out its non-conference schedule with a 1-0 victory over visiting Los Angeles Mission College on Friday.
The game was a defensive battle that remained scoreless all the way until the 85th minute. The Roadrunners' Nicholas Ontiveros put in what proved to be the game-winning goal off the assist from Brandon Pacheco.
Dominic Godoy was solid in goal for the Roadrunners in posting the squad's second shutout of the season.
With the win, Rio Hondo improved to 2-7-1 overall. The Roadrunners return to action on Oct. 7 when they travel to Pasadena City College for their South Coast Conference opener.
