El Camino Rolls Past Rio Hondo
By Sergio Ramos
El Camino College powered its way to a 14–1 victory over Rio Hondo College, using timely hitting, patience at the plate, and aggressive baserunning to pull away early and never look back.
The Warriors' offense was sparked by a balanced lineup that drew nine walks and delivered 10 hits. Kamaile Ho was the standout, going 2-for-3 with a triple, four RBI, three runs scored, and a stolen base. Estrella Tapia made her presence felt as well, driving in three runs, while Athena Singer added a double and two RBI. Trinity Martinez chipped in with an RBI single and scored twice, and Miranda Morelos and Emma Padilla each contributed run-scoring hits.
El Camino consistently applied pressure on the bases, stealing three bags and taking advantage of defensive miscues. The Warriors turned base runners into runs efficiently, plating 14 runs on 10 hits and capitalizing on opportunities throughout the game.
Rio Hondo managed to scratch across its lone run behind an RBI by Alyssa Pallan, who drove in the Roadrunners' only score. Hailey Gutierrez, Pallan, and Natalie Sosa accounted for Rio Hondo's three hits, but the Roadrunners struggled to generate sustained offense, striking out six times and leaving runners stranded.
Defensively, Rio Hondo committed a pair of errors that extended innings and allowed El Camino to widen the gap. El Camino's pitching staff limited damage, surrendering just three hits and one run while keeping Rio Hondo off balance.
With contributions up and down the lineup, El Camino showcased its depth and offensive firepower, cruising to a convincing 14–1 win over Rio Hondo.
