WHITTIER – Freshman Alexia Valencia scored a game-high 23 points, including the game-winning three-pointer with 8 seconds left, to help lead Rio Hondo College to a 54-51 non-conference win at home over visiting Irvine Valley College on Wednesday.
The win moved the Roadrunners' overall record to 3-4. Rio Hondo is 2-1 at home so far this season.
Valencia nailed 7 three-pointers on the way to her big night. She also added 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Jaden Hill-Massarotti contributed 8 points off the bench while Brooklyn Romero totaled 7 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists.
Rio Hondo will look to keep the momentum going on Friday (Nov. 22) when the Roadrunners travel to El Camino College for a 7 p.m. game.
