GLENDALE – Sophomore Miranda Mirales posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead Rio Hondo College in a 64-53 non-conference win at the Glendale College Crossover on Saturday.
The Roadrunners earned a split of their two games at the event just prior to the holiday break. On Friday, Rio Hondo opened the two-day tourney with a tough 60-30 loss to Irvine Valley College.
It was a solid team effort that lead to the win over Allan Hancock. Shirley Freeman came off the bench to score 12 points while Adreinne Bausley and Toni Vizcaino both added 9 points.
Despite being outrebounded by a 36-31 margin, the Roadrunners were able to convert 22 Allan Hancock turnovers into 13 points.
Friday's contest saw Brooklyn Romero lead Rio Hondo with 11 points in the loss to Irvine Valley. Vizcaino added 8 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
Rio Hondo moved to 7-8 overall after the two games. The Roadrunners are back in action on Dec. 29 when they open play at the two-day Los Angeles Trade-Tech College Crossover.
