By Sergio Ramos
East Los Angeles College used its dominance on the boards and balanced scoring attack to secure a 74–58 victory over Rio Hondo College in a women's basketball showdown.
ELAC controlled the tempo from start to finish, outrebounding Rio Hondo 49–26 and converting second-chance opportunities into consistent offense. The Huskies shot 43.5 percent from the field and went 14-for-18 from the free-throw line to maintain control throughout the game.
Sarah Ramos led all scorers with 21 points while adding a game-high 12 rebounds, four assists, and three blocks in an all-around performance. Alisson Davile followed with 17 points, knocking down three three-pointers, while Moriah Mosley contributed 13 points and five rebounds. Olivia Paramo anchored the interior with 18 rebounds to go along with nine points.
Rio Hondo was paced by Miranda Morales, who finished with a game-high 27 points, connecting on five three-pointers and going 8-of-11 from the free-throw line. Adreinne Bausley added 21 points and three steals, but the Roadrunners struggled to find consistent offense, shooting just 27.7 percent from the floor.
Despite competitive stretches, Rio Hondo was unable to overcome ELAC's physicality inside and turnover pressure, committing 19 turnovers that turned into scoring chances for the Huskies. ELAC also finished with eight assists and six steals, keeping Rio Hondo off balance offensively.
In the end, ELAC's rebounding advantage and balanced scoring proved too much, as the Huskies pulled away late to secure the 16-point win.
