Roadrunners finish fifth at Meathead Movers Invitational
SAN LUIS OBISPO – Sophomore Edmon Altunyan earned a gold medal with his first-place finish at the 133-pound weight division to lead a group of seven Rio Hondo College wrestlers that placed at the 2025 Meathead Movers Invitational at Cuesta College on Saturday.
The Roadrunners totaled 109.5 points to finish in fifth place out of 12 teams at the annual event.
Altunyan won by a 4-1 decision over Dominic Marquez of host Cuesta in the championship final.
Larry Cruz was solid for the Roadrunners, reaching the finals of the 157-pound division. Unfortunately, he was hurt in the contest and suffered an injury default to finish in second place.
Third-place showings went to Quentin Barros-Santiago at 125 and Adam Duong at 149. Finishing sixth were Shawn Torres at 141 and Joseph Estrada at 285.
Up next for Rio Hondo is a home dual match on Wednesday (Oct. 29) against Santa Ana College at 7 p.m..
