LOS ANGELES – Clarissa Gamboa knocked in a pair of goals while Raechel Guillen had a goal and assist to help lead the Rio Hondo College women's soccer team to a 5-0 South Coast Conference win at Los Angeles City College on Tuesday.
It was the Roadrunners' second straight 5-0 victory after the squad beat Los Angeles Harbor College last Tuesday by an identical score. With the win, Rio Hondo improved to 3-6-1 overall.
Rio Hondo also got penalty kick goals from Nayeli Alvarez and Isabel Maldonado. For Alvarez, it was her team-leading sixth goal of the season. Maldonado, who started in goal for Rio Hondo, recorded her fourth goal of the season after earning a hat trick with 3 goals last Tuesday.
Maldonado (45 minutes) and Marleen Cabrera (45 minutes) combined to post the Roadrunners second straight shutout.
The Roadrunners will face a big test on Friday (Oct. 11) when they travel to No. 19 state-ranked Long Beach City College for a 2 p.m. South Coast Conference game.
