Roadrunners qualify two doubles teams for State Championships
COSTA MESA – The Rio Hondo College women's tennis team will once again be represented at the state tournament after a pair of Roadrunner doubles squads punched their ticket with wins at the Orange Empire Conference tournament at Orange Coast College.
Rio Hondo's No. 1 doubles team of sophomores Makayla Glover and Sophia Chavez as well as the No. 2 duo of sophomore Princess Arevalo and freshman Bethany Rosas will be making the trip Ojai for the 3C2A State Championships that get underway on April 23.
Glover and Chavez will be returning to the state tournament for the second straight season after qualifying as a freshman duo last season.
Rio Hondo recently closed out the regular season by finishing tied for third place in the final Orange Empire Conference standings with a 2-6 record. The Roadrunners went 3-12 overall, picking up wins against Southwestern, Fullerton, and Mt. SAC.
