Roadrunners drop 18-8 conference game at East Los Angeles
MONTEREY PARK – Freshman Klarizza Munoz totaled three goals to lead the Rio Hondo College women's water polo team in an 18-8 South Coast Conference loss at East Los Angeles College on Wednesday.
The contest was close early with the Roadrunners trailing 5-3 after the opening quarter. In the second, East LA outscored Rio Hondo 3-0 to take an 8-3 advantage into halftime. Rio Hondo put up four goals in the third but it wasn't enough to overcome the Huskies.
The Roadrunners got two goals each from Emily Narvaez and Nicki Carrillo while Giselle Martinez scored once. Goalie Mia Gonzalez was credited with five saves.
Rio Hondo fell to 0-11 overall and 0-4 in the South Coast Conference. The Roadrunners are back in action on Friday (Oct. 10) when they host Crafton Hills College in a non-conference game.
